Stiff rigs and combo rigs with semi-rigid monofilament have a great track record for catching big carp around the world.
This is because the proper stiffness in the hook string prevents the hook bait from landing in a crumpled heap on the lead. It also helps to improve the throwing properties of the hooks and prevent tangles. The materials we have used so far have varied enormously - from memoryless leaders to Fluorocarbon - but so far they have all been a compromise between subtlety and the right balance of stiffness.

With the introduction of Trick-Link, we believe we have developed the perfect material for boom and stiff link. This beautifully colored, low memory monofilament hook material is designed to balance stiffness with that bit of flexibility that allows the rig to fall just right. We all know that the best presentation gives the best chance of a take...

Why is it so good?

First, there is the beautifully camouflaged 'Choddy' gray/green color that blends seamlessly with the bottom of a wide range of aquatic environments - including gravel clay and sand pits, lakes, canals and rivers. Secondly, it has excellent knot strength and can be neatly knotted and steamed well. All small adjustments that ensure that the final product performs as well as possible....

For making loops, we recommend using 'Figure of 8' loop knots or the improved 'Non-Slip' loop knot to form the prettiest, neatest round loop and for maximum strength with Gardner Trick-Link
