Light pressure = approx. 3 lb
Heavy clip release pressure = approx. 6lb
We recommend using the thinner (lighter) clip for short to medium range lead fishing; while the thicker (heavier) clip is ideal for longer range applications.
Attaching the clip to your leader is easy. Just follow these easy step by step instructions or check out the inside of the card that comes with the Drop Out Chod Clips:
Splice a large ring at the end of your Leader. Either the ring of a Flexi Ring Swivel or a Covert Q-Ring are perfect.
Make a safe Chod/Helicopter rig using your normal components. **
Use a Silicone Sleeve, Covert Buffer Bead or a Tail Rubber to encase the ring and Chod Clip for the cast. This prevents the lead from falling out of the clip during the cast or when the lead hits the surface of the water.
Hook the lead to the Chod Safety Clip and mount the ring and sheath with Silicone Sleeve or a Tail Rubber.
In practice, these clips have proven to be absolutely super - only dumping the lead when due to build up weed and they provide a much safer way of fishing chod rigs and helicopters in thick weed than ever before!
Please note, just like any "weak link" regulation, be wise in the use of this product! You don't have to be a rocket scientist to realize that cracking the leads can be dangerous.
Take the time to test them and experiment to see how they perform with your own throwing styles and equipment. They are not made for use with large leads at long distances.
