Continental Ronnie rig

The Continental Ronnie Rig is an amazingly effective low pop-up presentation that offers tremendous hookhold. It is a sensationally effective presentation that will rightfully stand the test of time, just like other classics like the Hinged Stiff Rig, Chod Rig, Blow Back, etc.

Continental Ronnie Rigs feature our hugely popular extra strong and super sharp Covert Continental Dark Mugga hooks (in sizes 4 and 6) attached to the upgraded XT Flexi-Ring Kwik Lok Swivel, making them ideal for really heavy duty angling; fishing for big carp in the most demanding angling situations here in the UK and mainland Europe.

 

Essentially, the combination of this hook's twisted eye, swept shaft, and amazing razor-sharp point is the perfect combination to get the most out of the Ronnie rig, as it creates a fast and aggressively responsive hook mechanism that takes a firm grip on the hook. Each end section features a matte sliding Covert Hook Swivel, held in place with a Covert Hook Stop. This phenomenal rig has been tested and proven time and time again on major carp waters in the UK and Europe with truly devastating results!

 

To get started, simply tie your favorite hooklink material to the Flexi-Ring, adjusting the length and material of the hooklink to the nature of the lake bottom you are fishing over and the lead setup you are using. As a rough guide, we recommend monofilaments like our hugely successful Trick-Link and Invisi-Link for Helicopter rigs, and softer hooklinks like the awesome Ultra Skin or Ultra Sink skinned hooklinks on Covert Lead Clips (or similar) arrangements. Finally, all you need to do is tie a pop up that has buoyancy to hold the rig up. You will need to add a small amount of Critical Mass (Tungsten Putty) poured around the shrink tubing that holds the XT Swivel in place so the rig sinks slowly to the lake bed. If the hook bait does not have enough buoyancy, the hook will not spin freely and this will detract from the ultimate performance of the rig.
